The ABC’s for selecting a top real estate agent to sell your home.
For most people it takes a lot of thought and consideration to come to the point when they are ready to put their home on the market and start the search for a new home. A good deal of thought and a bit of research should also be given to choosing a professional real estate agent to help make the transition go as smoothly as possible.
Here are some helpful ideas to consider…
A) Interview at least two REALTORS®. Before your appointment visit the agents website. This will help you get a sense of their personality and how effectively they market properties. It may also help you determine if they specialize in your area. Do a Google search of the agents name. An active agent will have a several links that appear: Facebook, Twitter, Realtor.com and YouTube are just a few.
During your visit ask what their sales volume has been over the last two or three years. Find out how many repeat customers they have had. A top producing agent will be happy to share that information with you.
B) Ask the agent to email you a link to the properties that they currently have listed for sale. Most Buyers start their search online in the comfort of their own home. You want to make sure that your home is portrayed the best possible way. Review the photos that the REALTOR® has posted for the homes they have for sale. Are they focused, color corrected, rooms uncluttered? Have they removed all seasonal and holiday decorations? Review the comments that they have posted. Do the comments describe what the photos portray? Do they make YOU want to schedule an appointment to see the property!
C) If you are still undecided ask to speak with the REALTORS ® past and current customers. We all know the best way to advertise is by word of mouth. With permission a successful agent will be eager to share contact information of some of their previous customers. Look for customer testimonials on their website and bragging rights on any print advertising they publish.
